Devon County ASA Championships 2010
Important Information for Coaches, Swimmers and Spectators
Entries for the championships should now be submitted.
Swimmers wishing to withdraw from a race must notify the Recorder by 9pm on the Tuesday before the event. This will allow the competition to be seeded into heats and the programme to be printed. Failure to notify withdrawals will results in empty lanes during the competition. The exception will be for the 400m, 800m and 1500m events for which swimmers will be required to sign in BEFORE warm up commences. Signing in sheets will be at the Recorders Desk.
Teams must not arrive at pools before 08:30. Teams arriving early will interfere with the pool and event staff setting up. Central Pool will not allow entrance to the building before 08:30.
Will Coaches please bring a lanyard to display their coach pass. Everyone on poolside must wear a badge or tabard (for Marshalls) that must be plainly visible. At Plymouth the coaches' passes will be available at the table on entering the pool area and at Tiverton they will be at spectators entrance.
There will be spectator restrictions at Tiverton. Although this may seem unnecessary, it is a matter of safety, which is in everyone's interest. Spectator numbers are limited to 125 and tickets will be issued to Clubs on the basis of the entries received. There is no charge for these tickets and they are transferable. Providing there is organisation and co-operation within clubs all parents should be able to see their child swim. New ticketing arrangements were tested at the Developments that were successful and clips and ribbons will be available at the door to allow spectator passes to be worn and to be visible. Please return the clip and ribbon at the end of the day. We have deliberately scheduled the longer distance events at Tiverton to minimise the impact of these restrictions. There are no restrictions on swimmers.
Also at Tiverton, will everyone (except registered disabled) please use the school car park, which is but a short walk from the pool.
All clubs participating in the Championships are expected to provide both qualified officials and other help. Please notify offers of officials to Helen Perry and David Jenkins will be contacting Club Secretaries or other nominated contacts for pool-side help early in 2010. Please note that everyone who helps on poolside must be a member of the ASA and be a registered Helper (Purple Form).
Thanks.
David Jenkins
